Listen to Grace by Daisy Drewes
Hi There! I’m Daisy and I’ve been writing songs about life from my heart since I was two or three. Hearing my daughter harmonizing to her older brother who was two and she was only one day old confirms this for me.
So as far as I’m concerned I’ve been writing music from my heart for 30 years now, and professionally for 14 years. Writing music has been a staple in my life both in community, and in areas of faith.
I love Jesus with all my heart and met him personally when I was twelve years old, overwhelmed with anxiety, and the voice of peace said open your Bible. I did and that’s when I found what felt like the first time ever, Philippians 4:13, opened right to the page and it just was all I could see. “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” I struggle every day but my hope and strength is in Christ Jesus, he has never left me, never abandoned me, and he gives me everything I need in each moment.
We just call on him and trust in him and he is our strength. He pulls us through to the next moment and he is our everlasting peace and hope and friend. He loves you! You are known and held and forever you belong to Jesus. He will always hear you and love you and be with you. Just call on his name, ask for his grace, and trust him to be with you. I love you. Daisy.
When I was in 3rd grade I had the opportunity to record my first album which was 3 songs for my momma for Mother’s Day. Those songs were so sweet Give Thanks, White As Snow, and one that slips my mind. I came back to that same studio 4 years later and recorded my second album which had my favorite original songs on it. We made a cd and shared it with everyone who meant something to me.
However, my first opportunity to compete as a songwriter was at a state college where I performed with my momma playing piano and together we won 2nd place. The first place winner was incredible, writing a piano piece that was other worldly and so intricately known from her soul. Being on that stage was different, as it was my song, and it came from my heart and I poured my spirit into it.
Since then I went to international music camp for composers under Jocelyn Hagen, got a music scholarship, went to college, shook my husband’s hand on the first day in choir (he thought then that I was the one 🥰💜, performed overseas in concert choir, sung with a string quartet at my sister’s wedding, got married, listened to JJ Heller endlessly, went to therapy for three years which helped tremendously (Geraldine taught me to “just do what you can”), worked in many bakeries where I have found such joy and love working with my hands and helping others and met incredible people who have prayed for my family and I ever since, writing songs in my head while baking, attended Next Level Songs (The Worship Coalition) songwriters retreat in Tennessee where I got to work and write with incredibly talented songwriters such as Stephen and Mary Elise Duncan, Sarah Wood, Rachel Barrentine, Marcie Ellen, met with and wrote a song with the incredibly talented Dove Award winner Ginny Owens, shared music as I kept growing as a person and an artist, had beautiful children, and during this time wrote over 700 songs.
Ever since I was small, I have been aching to share my music, produce and copyright, but it wasn’t until my grandfathers piano was given to me and the music started pouring out of me that I realized I was ready to record and share three songs at a time on Spotify. After receiving a call from Brian Konzelman, I was given an invitation to come and record in his studio where he got to know me as an artist, shared about himself, and then produced, mixed, and mastered three of my favorite original songs about my faith.
When I went to Back at the Ranch Studio, Bryan’s joy was infectious and he made me feel so incredibly special and comfortable and worth knowing. His work is beyond 60 years in the music industry touring, producing, performing and developing artists.
Bryan Konzelman is the most talented, humble, joyful, infectiously happy and incredible producer. He was an absolute joy, believed in me, and transformed my spirit songs into something ethereal and beautiful and calming and peaceful and true. I am forever grateful.
Jennifer Kepfer created the incredible artwork which she designed based on an image of me as a child with the mindset of Jesus watching over me in a field of daisies, knowing that I am known, seen, protected and loved. No matter where I am, He is with me. And he is with you. Always.
You can do it. Whatever it is. Just do what you can. I hope you enjoy listening to my album Grace on all platforms. Much love and thankfulness and awe for what Jesus has done. Love Daisy Drewes đź’śđź’ś
